My name is Mitzi Avanzado and I am pleased to welcome you to my very first blog! Each week, I will attempt to unravel the implications and impact of emerging media vehicles such as facebook, blogs, wikis, and twitter as it relates to integrated marketing communications industry, and most importantly, the way it has and will continue to evolve our lives.
More About Me:
Professionally and academically, I have been actively involved in the study and practical application of marketing communications theory since 2004, where I kicked off my career as a public relations coordinator for one of the largest homebuilders in the country. After pursuing my dreams of living and studying at the University of Valencia, Spain, I returned to the United States only to gain further insight into the world of marketing communications for a global speciality chemicals company. Since then, I have held positions of increasing responsibility for a global manufacturing conglomerate and now am a Communications Specialist for a major pharmaceutical company based in New Jersey. I am also pursuing my a masters of science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications (M.S. IMC) from West Virginia University.
Additionally,I am an avid Google, Facebook, MySpace, and iPhone user in my mid-twenties. Author Marc Prensky would most likely classify me as a Digital Native. And like many others on my side of the digital divide, I seek information almost instantaneously with the help of the Web 2.0 community that is always at my disposal.
I encourage all of you fellow bloggers, friends and social media critics to challenge me and share in the knowledge of this constantly evolving world of technology!
